We Won Our First Grant!
We are elated to announce that we are the recipients of the WaNACC Workforce Empowerment Grant!
The Workforce Empowerment Grant, offered in partnership with the Beacon Business Alliance, Mt. Baker Hub Alliance, Rainier Avenue Business Coalition, Washington Native American Chamber of Commerce, and Workforce Development Council of Seattle King County (WDC), aims to promote equity for businesses in Seattle-King County, with a focus on those 51% or more owned and operated by individuals from Black, urban Indian/Tribal, and Latine communities (also referred to as priority populations).
This grant funding, resulting from the Community Reinvestment Project, is designed to address racial, economic, and social disparities created by the historic design and enforcement of state and federal criminal laws and penalties for drug possession (otherwise known as βThe War on Drugsβ). By uplifting and prioritizing Black, urban Indian/Tribal, and Latine communities who have been disproportionately harmed, the goal is to create lasting economic benefits and ensure everyone has a fair chance at success.
This funding is a game-changer, it means we can:
- Hire our very first paid intern
- Level up our art market presence
- Invest in the tools and training we need to grow sustainably
We are committed to building equity, creating opportunity for QTBIPOC creatives, and investing back into our community.
Thank you to @bbabeaconhill , @mtbakerhub , @rainierabc , Washington Native American Chamber of Commerce (WaNACC), and the @seakingwdc for believing in our vision!
